FINDR is operated by Feria Information Systems (FIS) ("FINDR", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the FINDR app and website, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using FINDR you agree to this policy.
Who this applies to
FINDR is a marketplace connecting customers, drivers & couriers, businesses, skilled workers, tutors & schools and landlords in Ghana for rides, food & shopping, package delivery, events, stays, dine-in, property, jobs, classes and everyday payments. This policy covers all of them.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, phone number, email, and (for sign-in) a one-time passcode.
- Profile & delivery details: saved address, pinned map location, and saved destinations/favourites.
- Location: your device location while you use location-based features (hailing a ride, tracking a delivery, finding what's near you, and dine-in proximity). You can disable this in your device settings; some features won't work without it.
- Transactions: your orders, rides, bookings, dine-in tabs and event tickets, and the amounts involved.
- Payments: when you pay by Mobile Money or card, the payment is processed by our payment providers (e.g. Paystack, MTN MoMo). We receive a confirmation and reference; we do not store your full card number or MoMo PIN.
- Driver/courier & business data: if you register as a driver or list a business, we collect verification documents, vehicle details, a profile photo, and business/menu information you provide.
- Content you upload: photos (e.g. posters, product/menu images, package or delivery proof).
- Chats & calls: when you message or call another user in the app (for example customer↔business, customer↔driver or courier, customer↔worker, landlord↔resident, or a chat on a maintenance issue), we store the messages, their timestamps and who took part. We use this to deliver the conversation and to keep FINDR safe; messages may be reviewed for safety and abuse handling as described in our Terms.
- Jobs marketplace: if you post a job or work as a skilled worker, we collect your job posts, bids, worker profile and ratings. These are visible to other users so customers and workers can choose each other, and the parties can contact each other in the app.
- Classes (Classroom): tutors and schools keep a roster of their students (added by phone number, or joining with a class code) and enrolment records, including payment records where a class charges to join. Questions you post on a lesson are visible to the class with your name, and students receive a push notification when a new lesson is posted.
- School fees (FeePay): when you pay fees we collect the student's name, class and payment purpose you enter, which are shared with the school, and, if you choose to add it, the student's FINDR phone number so the school's class can enrol them automatically.
- Property & tenancy records: landlords who manage a property in FINDR keep records about their own tenancy: residents' names and phone numbers (residents are invited by phone and linked to their FINDR account), unit assignments, property staff (caretakers and managers), and maintenance requests. These records are visible to the landlord, their property staff and the resident concerned; FINDR hosts them on the landlord's behalf.
- AI assistant chats: messages you send to our AI assistants (Feria, Study Buddy, FINDR Coach) are processed by our AI service providers to generate replies, and your chats are saved so you can pick up where you left off. Study Buddy can store the study goals, exam dates and progress you share to personalise its coaching. For business owners, FINDR Coach also reads your own business's FINDR data (profile, sales summaries, orders and catalogue) to ground its advice.
- Study documents you upload: when you upload your own study material to Study Buddy (your notes or past papers, as PDFs or pictures), we store it so you can study from it, and we send its contents to our AI service providers to read the material, answer your questions and build quizzes from it. Uploaded documents are private to your account. You can delete a document at any time, which removes it and the quiz content built from it.
- Voice input: when you choose to use voice mode with an AI assistant (for example talking to Study Buddy), we record the audio of what you say and send it to a speech-to-text provider to turn it into text. For Ghanaian-language (Twi) voice mode, the audio is processed by GhanaNLP, which transcribes your speech and produces the spoken Ghanaian-voice reply. We use these recordings only to run the conversation you asked for, not to identify you or for any other purpose. FINDR does not store your voice recordings once they have been transcribed; the speech provider that processes them (for Twi, GhanaNLP) handles the audio under its own privacy policy and may retain it on its side. Voice mode is optional; you can simply type instead.
- Field-agent verification: when a field agent registers or claims a business on a merchant's behalf, we capture the agent's GPS location at that moment to confirm they were on site. This verifies genuine onboarding and helps prevent fake listings; it is the agent's location, not the merchant's.
- Device & usage data: push-notification tokens, app/device information, and how you use the app (searches, taps) to operate and improve the service.
How we use your information
- To provide the services you request: match you with drivers, route orders to businesses, process bookings and payments, and deliver tickets.
- To show you relevant, nearby results and personalise recommendations and search.
- To connect nearby providers: for example, using a property's location to find skilled workers near it for a job or a maintenance request.
- To send service messages and push notifications (e.g. order status, ride updates, new-lesson alerts, security and account notices).
- To power the optional AI assistants you choose to use: generating replies from your messages (and, for FINDR Coach, from your own business's data; for Study Buddy, from any notes or past papers you upload).
- To run voice mode when you choose it: transcribing what you say so an assistant can reply, and (in Twi) speaking the reply aloud in a Ghanaian voice.
- To run rewards, promotions and (optional) marketing updates you can opt out of.
- To keep FINDR safe: verify drivers/businesses, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
How we share your information
We share only what's needed to make the service work. We do not sell your personal data.
- With the other side of your transaction: to complete a request, a driver/courier or business sees the details they need (e.g. your name, contact, pickup/delivery location, and order). Drivers may see a passenger's pickup point; passengers see the driver's name, photo and vehicle.
- Schools, tutors & landlords: a school you pay fees to receives the payment details and student reference you enter, and its bursars see each payment with the payer's name shown on it; a tutor or school sees its class roster and enrolments; a landlord and their property staff see the tenancy records above for their own property.
- Other users, where you choose to post: job posts, bids, worker profiles and ratings on the jobs marketplace, and questions you post on a class lesson, are visible to the users of those features.
- Payment providers: to process and confirm payments and payouts.
- Service providers: hosting, maps, messaging/SMS, push delivery, analytics, the AI providers that generate assistant replies, and the speech-to-text and Ghanaian-voice providers (such as GhanaNLP) that transcribe your voice-mode audio and speak replies, all operating the app on our behalf.
- Legal & safety: where required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of users, the public, or FINDR.
Notifications & marketing choices
You can turn off marketing/promotional push notifications in Profile → Settings while still receiving essential service messages. You can manage all notifications in your device settings.
Data retention
We keep your personal data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account we remove your personal data; however, businesses you transacted with keep their own records of past transactions for legal/accounting reasons, and after deletion these are anonymised: no longer linked to your name, contact details or identity. The same applies to the fee, enrolment and tenancy records that schools, tutors and landlords keep about their own students and residents.
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account & profile | Until you delete your account |
| Order, ride, delivery, stay & dine-in records (anonymised on deletion) | Kept by the merchant for their accounting/tax obligations |
| Voice-mode audio | Not stored by FINDR after transcription; the speech provider processes it under its own terms |
| Study documents you upload | Kept until you delete the document or your account |
| Aggregate, non-identifying analytics | Indefinite (cannot identify you) |
Your rights & choices
- Access & correction: view and edit your profile details in the app.
- Deletion: delete your account anytime from Profile → Settings → Delete account, or see how to delete your account.
- Opt out of marketing: toggle promotional notifications off in Settings.
- Location: control location access in your device settings.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and limit access to it.
Children
FINDR accounts are for adults: you must be 18 or older to use the app, and we do not knowingly let children open accounts. Where a parent or guardian pays school fees, the student's name and class are collected only as a payment reference for the school; where a school or tutor runs a class on FINDR, the roster and enrolment are managed by that school or tutor.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here with a revised "last updated" date, and notify you in-app where appropriate.
